A native to West Virginia, I now reside in Ithaca, NY and I am an Agronomy MS/Ph. D. student at Cornell University. I graduated from West Virginia University with a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in International Studies with an Emphasis in Development in 2011. Along the way I have studied participatory methods in agriculture in Austria, economic development in Morocco, and was a Research Assistant at the International Maize & Wheat Improvement Center in Mexico. My research now is on building more resilient cropping systems to extreme weather events by improving the absorptive, adaptive, and restorative capacities of a farm for dairy farmers in the Northeast. I have a strong appetite for adventure, experiencing different cultures, and helping to improve agricultural systems through sustainable practices.
